Project Evaluation

NOTE: At the bottom of this PPD I uploaded my Project Evaluation as a word document in case you want to check the word count.

During this term, I had the chance to create my own magazine based on all that I have learned during Term 2 and Term 3.

I started my project by thinking about my zine’s theme. I was required to choose a theme based on the word self, so I chose to work with the theme self-knowledge. I think that this theme has allowed me to explore a lot of my creativity and photography, and also to explore a new style that I have never tried before. In addition, this theme is very important to me, it is something that I think and struggle on a daily basis, so it allowed me to be me and explore my feelings, so I think this was definitely the starting point to build my zine.

I think that I definitely responded to my theme throughout my photography and storytelling. When I was creating the content for my zine, I wanted my theme to be clear to anyone who was reading my zine so I tried to make it understandable from the beginning. Besides that, I think that working with different people and different personalities helped a lot in building my concept.

When looking back on my project proposal and now looking at my ZINE it makes me happy to see that I was able to achieve all of my goals. I think I was capable of achieving all of the ideas that I had for my ZINE and also the look that I wanted it to have. Moreover, I think that I was able to show what was my BA choice with my ZINE. When I was creating and planning my ZINE, I wanted to make sure that I was doing a bunch of photoshoots so that this would be very clear.

Throughout this term, I received a lot of feedback. A lot of people said that they liked my work, some people said to reduce the images and more. I feel that this made me learn a lot and also evolve. These are feedbacks that I will definitely take for my future work.

In general, I’m very happy with my work and how it turned out. I’m very satisfied with my final outcome and how I was able to organize myself and do everything in time, and also I’m very happy with my evolution from the beginning until now. I’m also very grateful for every tutor’s help and classmate’s feedback because it made me the artist that I am now.

ZINE

During this term, I had the chance to create my own zine. It was a great opportunity to explore my creativity and my skills in photography, and this is definitely one of the works that I’m most proud of. Besides that, I think I was able to express a lot of my personality, style and dedication through the pages of Myself ZINE.

I hope that everyone who reads my ZINE has a good time exploring all of the pages and enjoys the work which I put a lot of love and work on.

Here is my ZINE:

NOTE: I refer myself and Maria Eduarda/Duda on my Zine.

PR Package

During this term, I was asked to create a PR Package to promote my Zine. It was definitely a very fun and interesting activity, since I was allowed to use a lot of my creativity on it. I really enjoyed to learn a little bit more about PR during this term, and I think this will definitely help me throughout my career on the fashion industry.

All the work created done from my PR PACKAGE is on this link:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1D4ZUaOHvF22WQfk5hlhWFyU6vwVtzeEv?usp=sharing

Note 1: I tried to download my work into my blog, but the files were too big. Based on that I decided to upload them into a folder on my google drive with free access to everyone.

Note 2: The development and experimentation from this work is located on the Development area and also divided into the Week 1 / Week 2 / Week 3 areas.

Written Description of PR Event

During term 3, I had to create a PR Event o promote my magazine. I went trough a lot of brainstorming and notes to create this event, since I wanted it to be very fun and creative at the same time.

The theme of my Zine is “Self-Knowledge”, so my biggest intention with my Zine is to help people find who they really and feel comfortable with it, and this what I wanted to bring to the event as well.

On the event that I created, the people who attend will have the chance to be photographers, stylists or models for a day. They will have the chance to take pictures and then edit them in photoshop workshops, besides that they will have styling workshops to learn the best of styling, and later, they will have the chance to show what they created on a fashion show. In addition, the visitors will be reached by the best styling artists and best photoshop tutors in London. My intention with these ideas is to encourage people to be who they are in this activities and express who they are through fashion. I believe that fashion is one of the biggest ways to express yourself, so I thought that this actives would be the perfect way to promote my ZINE.

Furthermore, to enjoy the day at the Barbican, there will be food stand all across the event area to provide food and drinks to everyone who attends the event. Moreover, a DJ will also be playing the latests hits at the same space. In addition, there will be some brands collaborating with the ZINE in this event. The brands will not only provide the clothes for styling and photography workshops and the fashion show, but they will also be exhibiting some of their latests products on an exhibition at the event. In this exhibition, there will be having some pictures of the zine as well.

And finally, at the event there will some influencers to promote the event and to bring more people to attend it.

Reflection + Peer Review + Final Session: Week 5

Reflection:

During this week we had two sessions at Lime Grove. One adobe session and one final session.

During the adobe class, we learned how to do some 3D objects. I learned how to do a coffee cup just with simple rectangles on Adobe Illustrator, and also how to do a “Donut” with a smiling face that I also created on illustrator. In the middle of the process, I got a little bit lost but then my friend helped me with some steps. Later, my tutor let us work on some other work for our submission, so since I had basically all my work done I decided to finish my Sketch Up design and try to upload my ZINE to Issuee. I had some problems with my ZINE, because the file was very heavy, but then when I got at home I did what my tutor told me to do to fix the problem and I was able to upload it.

After the break, we had the chance to give feedback to our classmates about their work. It was very interesting to see everyone’s work and their ideas, so it was really nice. Everyone said nice things about my work so it made me very happy. Later, at the end of the class, I was chosen to share my work with the whole class and I also got good feedbacks from everyone.

On our last session, we went through a check of everything that needed to be on our submission, which was very nice so I could check if I had everything to sumbit. I also checked with my tutor some small details about the submission so everything was alright.

This week was very nice, but it sad that the course is over. I’m so glad about everything that I learned this year.

Peer Review:

During today’s class we had the chance to share the work with our classmates, and receive feedback. And these were the feedback that I got from my classmates:

NOTE: I was not able to upload a screenshot of the feedback because it was saying that the images was very heavy.

Xi Wu: A lot of content, I love how you layout the picture. Your photos are telling us stories.

Chi-An Chou: I love the layput and illustrator that you did on each pages. They are sooo great!

Brooklyn Liang: Very well organized week from week and really enjoy the consistent layout throughout.

Shan-Yun Yu: There’s definitely a variety of photography content, and I love how you categorised your zine into different chapters; this resembles a reading book. You have developted your own photography style, and I can tell how much your photography skills have improved. However, it would be better to work on your image selection and retaining that “fashion” element in some of your photoshoots, given that “fashion photography”and mere “photography”are different.

Minh Xuan Nguyen: I think you should be more selective with choosing images, because I quite overwhelmed with the quantity of images you put into each project. Your pathway is photography, so I think be creative with the layout but dont make your viewers feel distracted with your work.”

Natasha Mulwani: I really like how your work has developed so much from term 1. I can clearly see your interest in photography from your zine as well as from the development in your work. I really enjoyed looking through your work as each part tells a new story which is really great for a photographer. I really loved your work <3

Byeongwook Lee: I really like your zine, interesting AD pages. I could tell what is your BA. Well organised and story telling, However, few pages are pretty hard to look. There are some disturb with thr background. love illustrator.

I could tell that from most of the feedback, most people recommended me choosing more images, which is something that I have been working on. However, I feel I have already evolved with my image selection compared to Term 1. I have also seen some comments about my backgrounds so it is something that I will pay more attention in future works.

In general it was good to hear all these feedbacks.

Reflection: Week 4

During this week we had 4 sessions, which one of them was an Adobe Session and one was exclusive to work on MyBlog. In addition, I basically worked on my PR Packages on the other two sessions.

In the first class of the week, we were asked to start working on the invitation, press release and on the written description of the PR Event. On this class I was just able to work on my press release so the rest I did it later at home. On the following class, we were asked to work in whatever project we were doing for our zine as our tutor was going around looking at our work. I decided then to work on the layouts of my zine. In addition, my tutor looked at my work and she said it was looking very good and very professional, in addition, she said that I have evolved a lot since term 1, which made me very happy. Besides that, she gave me some ideias of how to organize some of the pictures that I showed her in layouts. Later, in my Adobe Session, we were taught to how to use Sketch Up, so we could create and demonstrate our PR Event. I tought Sketch Up would be very hard to use but it ended up being very simple. Furthermore, on the last session of the week, we were asked to organize our MyBlogs so they would be ready and organized for submission. As I had already written all of My Blogs and organized all of my work on it, I was able just to revise everything. Moreover, during this week I worked on finish my zine so it could show it to some of my tutors before the submission.

This week was very productive and very fun.

Reflection + Works: Week 3

This week we have three sessions on campus, and one of them was an adobe session. We worked basically on our PR Packages and we also received feedback from our tutors.

In the first session, we had to work on a short film made with any random videos that we had on our devices. I worked with my friend Stephanie and we used some videos that she had done during a photoshoot and then we edited it together. We chose first a song together so we could cut the videos based on the sound and we tried to make very smooth cuts during the videos. The short film ended up looking very nice, and our tutor really enjoyed it, she said it looked like a promotional video and also that it looked very professional, and as SDS she said that we should create videos to bring to Adobe class so we could create the video to promote our zine. In the next class, our tutor asked us to keep working on whatever project that we had been doing for our zine ot PR Package, so I decided to edit the short film to promote my zine. In the adobe class, we had to bring videos to start editing the video to promote our zine. As I had done this activity at home and on my last class I didn’t have to work much during class, so I decided to just revise my video and add some effects and text. Furthermore, during this week I did a lot of photoshoots to use as content for my zine, I went to very different locations and created a lot of images.

This week was very nice and I had the opportunity to work a lot on my zine, I can’t wait to see how it is going to look.

*Note: I’m not able to upload the video made with Stephanie in here because the file is too big, but it was posted in here area on Padlet.*

Reflection + Works: Week 2

During this week, I had three sessions, one of them being an Adobe Session.

In the first session, we were encouraged to create ideas for a PR Event of a zine that was handed to us. So, first, I and my group analysed the zine and then we brainstormed a bunch of possible ideas for the PR Event which was going to happen at the Barbican. Then, after brainstorming we created a mood board with the images and ideas for this event. Then, as SDS we were asked to create ideas for the PR Event of our own zines, which was very interesting because I could use a lot of my imagination and create whatever I wanted! So I could put workshops, exhibitions and a fashion show altogether in one event. We were also asked and also to create names and tag lines for our zine, which was an easy activity for me since I already had created all of these during my easter break, I just still haven’t decided which one I will use. Then in the next session, we were required to create the PR Posts for our zine, and also to create 6 more at home as an SDS. For me, this activity was very fun because I could play with layouts and fonts. Then on our adobe session we were teached how to create a flippable magazine, which was very interesting and easy. Besides that, we could understand more about film editing and direction which was very fun. Besides all of this, I have been working more on my zine content and I have been able to create a bunch of photoshoots.

This week was very productive and fun, and I can’t wait to learn more about film editing and direction in the next adobe classes.

Reflection + Works: Week 1 (+ JPS)

Before Easter Break, my class went to JPS to look at the archive of magazines and to learn about some other information, but I was not able to go since I had to travel back to my country that day. But, on the following day, I made a zoom call with one of my friends who went to the class so she could explain to me what they did and also explain to me some interesting information that could be useful for me as I was planning and building my zine. After the Easter Break, we started the first week of term 3 by having one session at campus and other one at the Barbican.

During the first session, we were required to bring all the work that we have done during easter break so we could create the concept board for our magazine. As I had created a concept board during the Easter break, I didn’t have a lot of work during this class, so I tried to work and add more information to my Project Proposal and to ask for some feedback about the work that I did during the break to my tutor. My tutor said that my work looked really good and that I worked a lot during the break, so this made me very happy. In the next session, in Barbican, I was required to create fashion images and moving images for the PR Package of my zine. I worked with one of my colleagues, and we created images that could be used for the PR Package and also for a fashion editorial in my zine. I didn’t really like the images that I took on that day at all, because in my opinion, they looked very commercial and I have been trying to make more conceptual and natural-looking images. But, as I wanted to use these images as well, I will be using these images in my magazine for an interview and then I will be taking new ones at Barbican for my PR Package. In addition, on that day I also asked my other tutor for feedback about the content that I created during the break, and she told me to go for more conceptual images since I have a lot of look images in my layouts. Based on that I took this as an inspiration for my other photoshoots. Besides that, during this week, I started to create content for my magazine. I started it by doing some photoshoots.

This first week was very exciting and I can’t wait to start building my zine.

Works of this week (NOTE: The content that I created on this day at the Barbican will not be used on my PR Package, It will be used for an interview on my ZINE, I went there another day on the following week and created a new content to be used on my PR Package):
